Rising to fame as a singer and dancer in the 1920s, Baker shattered racial barriers in the entertainment industry. Beyond the stage, she used her influence to fight for racial equality and even worked as a spy for the French Resistance during WWII. Her legacy as an artist and activist continues to inspire generations worldwide. ✨🎭 Laissez les bons temps rouler! 🎭✨ Yesterday, MACA high school students in Mrs. Pitre’s and Mrs. Brower’s classes got a special treat—a deep dive into the History of Mardi Gras! 🎉 ULL graduate student and Public Historian Kallie Barron, who has worked with museums across the state, brought the culture to life with her expertise in Cajun studies.
