The MACA Dance Department maintains a rigorous, challenging and creative setting for the study and performance of dance and is committed to the students who aspire to achieve.

Students receive training in the disciplines of ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dancing while also being introduced to dance history, music theory, stagecraft, and theatrical studies.

At every opportunity, dancers are encouraged to collaborate with the Performing and Visual Arts Departments at MACA.  Being in sync with other art areas broadens the scope of one's knowledge and provides learning experiences to last a lifetime.

Applications to attend MACA as a dancer are offered to students in grades 7-12 that are zoned for any school in St. Landry Parish.  Requirements for admission include a beginner level of dance education, preferably in the study of ballet and a commitment to participate in all dance-related activities promoted by the department.  Performance opportunities are numerous and are scheduled throughout the school year.

It takes an athlete to dance but an artist to be a dancer.
