First grade students in Mrs. Darby and Ms. Quebedeaux's class completed dioramas of various habitats they've been studying in class. The dioramas are on display in the main hallway for all to see. Great job First Grade!!!

GCES would like to thank everyone who donated to our Mardi Gras Bead Drive. Through this partnership with Arc of Acadiana, our donations will assist in funding programs and activities for adults with disabilities in our area!

Good Afternoon GCES!
This is a reminder that tomorrow is Read Across America Day. Students are encouraged to wear their favorite hat as we say "Hats Off to Reading!" We know that some teachers sent out messages stating that students can wear shirts as well, so we will make those allowances if students wear shirts.
Also, Mrs. Barbara Leblanc, Bus 280, has returned. Starting tomorrow, she will run both the morning and afternoon routes as usual. Thanks for your patience.
Have a great evening!

Good Afternoon GCES!
This is a reminder that Ms. Barbara Leblanc, Bus 280, is still out. She will return on Wednesday, March 1, for the afternoon route. She is unavailable for the morning route.
Thursday, March 2 is National Read Across America Day (Dr. Seuss's Birthday). Students may wear their favorite hat with uniforms as we say "Hat's Off to Reading".

We're excited to announce that our 1st Annual St. Landry Parish Schools Student Arts and STEAM Festival will happen this Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 10 AM to 3 PM on the Opelousas Courthouse Square. We're thankful to the Acadiana Center for the Arts for making this happen. There will be school bands, student artists, our robotics teams, and so much more. This event is free and open to everyone! Please come out and support our students and bring friends!

Today the PBIS Committee sponsored a Mardi Gras Mambo dance party and arts and craft activity. Students redeemed 20 Class Dojo points to participate. They also dressed in their most festive Mardi Gras attire. Thanks students for continuing to be safe, respectful, and responsible.

Good Afternoon GCES!
This is a reminder that Mrs. Barbara Leblanc (Bus 280) and Mrs. Annette Courville (Bus 253) are not running their routes today and tomorrow. Please make arrangements to pick up the children by 3:15.
Students who are participating in the PBIS Mardi Gras Mambo event tomorrow are going home with purple tickets. The students who are participating are encouraged to wear School appropriate Mardi Gras attire. Be as festive and creative as you like. Free Dress guidelines can be followed.
Also, don't forget to donate any Mardi Gras beads that you do not want to keep to our Mardi Gras Bead Drive. Deadline to donate is March 3.

Good evening GCES. Ms. Annette Courville, Bus 253, is unable to run her route Thursday and Friday. In addition, Mrs. Barbara Leblanc, Bus 280, is still out. Parents of students who ride these buses will need to make transportation arrangements. Please bear with us as the car rider line will be longer than usual. It helps if you have the student names displayed in the front windshield. Thanks in advance and have a great evening.

GCES is excited to announce that we are participating in Arc of Acadiana's annual Mardi Gras Bead Drive. So as you go out to celebrate Mardi Gras, bring any beads that you do not want to GCES between February 23 and March 3. The class that collects the most beads (by weight) will win a class pizza party. More importantly, Al beads collected will be resold by Arc of Acadiana to help fund programs for Adults with Disabilities in our area. Thanks in advance for your participation.
