St. Landry Parish Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, April 11, 2024, due to the extensive damage caused by the recent storms, impacting many of our families.
All 12-month employees are asked to report to their respective school/site when they are able to do so safely. We understand this is a difficult time for our community, and we appreciate your patience and flexibility. The closure will allow time for families to address any storm impacts while allowing employees to ensure schools are prepared to reopen once conditions improve. Additional updates will be provided through our normal communication channels as more information becomes available. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate these challenging circumstances together.

This closure includes all after-school activities and sports practices. We anticipate resuming regular school hours on Thursday, April 11th. This decision was made after close consultation with the National Weather Service and the Office of Emergency Preparedness to ensure the safety of our students and staff, which remains our top priority. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we take necessary precautions during this severe weather event. We appreciate your continued support of our district. Stay safe!

GCES came together to celebrate the 2024 Solar Eclipse. Staff members were treated to cosmic treats. Teachers incorporated the eclipse into their instruction. Some were lucky enough to view the eclipse as the clouds allowed. Others viewed the NASA live stream. It was truly a day filled with curiosity, exploration, and scientific discovery.

Today we celebrated GCES Unity Day to promote the inclusion of individuals with disabilities. Students and staff wore attire of their favorite sports teams and pledged to Be Brave and to be unified! They also decorated basketballs that now hang in the main hallway as an ongoing reminder. #SLPProud #SpecialOlympicsUnifiedSchools
We are partnering with AMS again for an Easter-Themed Family Night. Please come out on Wednesday, March 27 from 5:30-7:00 at Arnaudville Middle School for a fun time. Hope to see you there!
Good Afternoon GCES! To promote the inclusion of individuals with special needs, we have partnered with the Special Olympics Unified Schools Program. Tomorrow we will have "Unity Day". Students and staff are asked to wear a jersey or shirt of their favorite sports team. We will pledge to Be Brave and Unified!
