A Message from SLPSB: Due to the anticipated severe weather conditions, St. Landry Parish schools, head starts, and administrative offices will be closed Wednesday, March 30, 2022. This closure will include any after school activities. Regular school hours are expected to resume on Thursday, March 31st. The decision to have a total system closure was based on advice from the Office of Emergency Preparedness and for safety concerns expressed by the SLPSB Transportation Manager. The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority. Stay safe!

The Hurricanes will be playing for the State Championship on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles, LA. Superintendent Jenkins has approved a school closure for the North Central High School zone on Friday, March 11, 2022. This school closure impacts the following schools--North Central High, Palmetto Elementary, Washington Elementary, and the Head Start centers of the zone.
****Students based at NCHS/Washington Elementary/Palmetto Elementary who attend CAPS, SLATS, MACA, and Washington Career Center will be excused from classes on March 11, 2022.

A MESSAGE FROM SLPSB: At the St. Landry Parish School Board Meeting last night, the Board voted to make mask wearing optional at schools, district facilities, and on the school bus. This Board action is effective immediately.

MACA will continue to accept applications into March. Students entering 7th-12th grade in the 2022-2023 school year and interested in creative writing, theatre, dance, band, chorus, or art are eligible to apply. MACA IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR - Magnet Academy for Cultural Arts is accepting applications for the 2022-2023 school year in the art areas of creative writing, dance, instrumental music, theatre, visual arts, and vocal music. TALENT EDUCATION
If you suspect your child of having Talented characteristics in MUSIC, THEATRE AND/OR VISUAL ART contact your child’s school for a referral to the School Building Level Committee. Talented referrals and evaluations are only conducted once a year in the Spring.
