Palmetto Elementary is OPEN today (May 6th). Only North Central students were sent home due to power outage. BBQ dinner orders are due today! If you want a BBQ dinner please call the office 337-623-4482. BBQ dinner pick up is Saturday, May 14th 10:00-12:00.

We are super excited about our Bar B Que dinner sale that is taking place on May 14, 2022! The weather will be perfect for a great plate of bar b que! Each diner is $12 and includes your choice of half chicken or pork steak with rice dressing, yam patty and a brownie! Pick up will be between 10:30 and 12:30. Bar B Que is to summer as Gumbo is to winter! Our caterer is asking for a count of dinners sold so that he may place his meat order. We are asking that you kindly respond to our Facebook post or call Mrs. Kisha is you plan on ordering (please include the number of dinners.) 337-623-4482

Good morning, Our SOLA giving day fundraiser ends today. A huge thank you to our latest donors: Mrs. Byrd Adams, Mrs. Jamelia Dixon, Ms. Earline Bihm, and Mr. Harold Taylor. Reminders: *All students will need to provide their homeroom teacher with a self addressed stamped envelope so that final report cards can be mail. The large brown manila envelopes work best. *The ice cream truck will be on campus on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Prices range from 50 cents to $4. *Makin Groceries Mobile Market will be on campus on Friday, May 13 from 9:30-11:30. Don't forget to come shop with us. *Students will have a jean day on Friday, May 13 for 2 cans of dog food. All donations will help our local animal aid. Teacher appreciation week is next week!

May is Better Hearing and Speech Month. "Each May, Better Hearing & Speech Month (BHSM) provides an opportunity to raise awareness about communication disorders and the role of ASHA members in providing life-altering treatment." We are proud of the work our Speech and Language Pathologist every day to help students. #slpproud

There is still time to donate if you haven't yet. The last day is Thursday, May 5, 2022. We are so super proud of all of our students during this difficult testing time. Third through fifth graders have really been working hard on their LEAP test. They are definitely taking their tests seriously! Our younger babies are doing a great job of being extremely quiet and respectful as not to disturb our testers!

This afternoon, Mrs. Tonya Pitcher's bus riders will go home on Ms. Kasey Kennedy's bus. If your child normally rides Mrs. Pitcher's bus, please expect them home later than usual today.

Announcement: Because of state testing next week, Teacher Appreciation Week has been moved to the week of May 9-13. Although the school has some extra special activities and treats for all of our faculty and staff, we would love to get our students and families involved in this great week. As a special treat, we will have Adopt a Teacher! Simply call the office beginning on Wednesday of next week and let Mrs. Kisha know who you would like to adopt. She will let you know what things are your teacher's favorite such as favorite drink, snack, chips, etc. Let's all help our staff members feel appreciated!

Good evening, As you are aware, 3/4/5 grades will be testing for the next 8 days. We have received several phone calls inquiring on whether or not lower elementary students need to report to school during these days. The answer is "yes!" Although lower elementary students are using the cafeteria for their classroom in the mornings, they do return to their regular classrooms after lunch to continue with their work. I hope that this clears up so confusion.

We still have some remaining spots in our pre-k class for the upcoming school year. Students must be 4 years of age by September 30 to qualify. Call the office and let Mrs. Kisha help you get those babies in school! 337-623-4482.
