Northeast Elementary Schools will be open tomorrow. September 12, 3024

Important St. Landry Parish School District Announcement: After consulting with the Office of Emergency Preparedness, all schools and administrative offices will be open tomorrow, Thursday, September 12, 2024. However, please be aware that there may be transportation delays due to the aftermath of Hurricane Francine. Given the extensive geography of our parish, we understand that some areas may face challenges. If your family is experiencing storm-related difficulties that prevent your child from attending school, please reach out to the school to inform them. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Northeast Elementary will have early dismissal Tuesday, September 10, 2024. at 12:25 pm and will remain closed on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. We hope to resume normal school operations on Thursday, September 12, 2024. However, should there be any changes, the school district will update parents via text message and their social media platforms. I will also send out any additional information through Thrill-share to our Northeast Elementary family. Please be safe and careful and we look forward to seeing you when school reopens. The Opelousas Senior High School football game will take place tonight, September 6, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. The location of the game has been moved to Teurlings Catholic High School due to the conditions of the field. Teurlings Catholic High School is located at 139 Teurlings Drive in Lafayette, La. Please come out and support our tigers.

We are pleased to inform you that the St. Landry Parish School Board is participating in a meal service option called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). All enrolled students in the District are eligible to receive a breakfast and lunch meal at NO CHARGE to your household throughout the school year. The schools listed below (all schools) are participating for SY 2024-25:

We will be following a staggered entry schedule for the first two days students return to school. The schedule is as follows: August 8th - Last names beginning with A-I; August 9th - Last names beginning with J-Z; August 12th - All students report. We are looking forward to our students returning to school for a successful school year!

All St. Landry Parish School Board Administrative offices and schools will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in observance of Juneteenth. We will not have summer school or Camp Accelerate on this day.

Northeast Pre-K parents/guardians Reminder all pre-k students must be accompanied by their parent or guardian. April 22-26, 2024 is Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week (APAW), a dedicated week to recognize, appreciate and advocate for those who work with young people during out-of-school hours. Research shows that skilled and knowledgeable program staff are the backbone of program quality and are key to desired positive youth outcomes. Why is it important to recognize Afterschool Professionals? An estimated 7.8 million children participate in afterschool programs each year; for every child in an afterschool program, two more are waiting to get in. Every young person deserves quality afterschool experiences that positively impact their development. It takes skilled professionals to create these experiences. Because of the important role afterschool professionals play in kids’ lives, they deserve recognition and support!
