Grand Prairie Elementary School

The St. Landry Parish School Board will host CAMP ACCELERATE for all students in grades K - 8! CAMP ACCELERATE will provide students an opportunity to continue their academic learning in English Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science while also engaging them in enrichment activities. The enrichment opportunities will enable students to take virtual field trips, learn more about science and technology, engage in social living projects, play sports, and develop an appreciation for art, theater, music, and more. Students will attend CAMP ACCELERATE from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday beginning June 6th and continuing through June 30th. New this Year ! We are exploring the possibility of offering field trips to students on select Fridays. Students will be offered transportation to and from the program, and lunch will be provided. Parents of students in grades K to 8 who are interested in registering their children for the program should complete the registration form below. Please complete one form per child. REMINDER: Deadline to apply for School Choice is March 28, 2022. The application and letters can be found by going to https://www.slpsb.org/apps/pages/slpsb_school_choice-2022_2023.

GPE Parents: PRE-K REGISTRATION - Beginning Monday, March 28th, you may come by the office to pick up Pre-K registration packets and sign up for a testing date/time. Your child must be 4 years old by September 30th, 2022. KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION - Beginning Monday, March 28th, you may come by the office to pick up a Kindergarten registration packet. Current GPE Pre-K students do not need to re-register. Only students who will be new to GPE need to register for Kindergarten. Your child must be 5 years old by September 30th, 2022.

GPE parents: Our Book Blast adventure has begun! We are on a treasure hunt! The first step in this adventure is for your student (and you) to take ten minutes and register for our Book Blast event. After registering yourself, you will invite ten or more friends and family to support your child’s home libraries and help their classmates build their libraries. Next, please sign the treasure map, and send it back tomorrow. When they give their completed signed treasure map with completed registration to their teacher, your child will receive their cool prizes tomorrow. GPE Parents: We will begin registering prospective Pre-K students sometime in April (exact date has yet to be determined). If you would like to add your child to the registration/testing list, please call the school at 337-826-3391. Also, feel free to forward this information to any parent of a child who will be 4 years old by September 30th, 2022 and is zoned for GPE.

A MESSAGE FROM SLPSB: At the St. Landry Parish School Board Meeting last night, the Board voted to make mask wearing optional at schools, district facilities, and on the school bus. This Board action is effective immediately.

GPE Parents: REMINDER that there will be NO Learning Beyond The Bell after school program TODAY, Thursday, March 3rd, 2022. After school tutoring will resume on Monday, March 7th.
