School Lunch Hero Day is an annual celebration in the United States that honors the hardworking school nutrition professionals who serve healthy meals to students every day. It is typically celebrated on the first Friday in May, which falls on May 5th, 2023.
The day was created by the School Nutrition Association (SNA) to recognize the important role that school nutrition professionals play in promoting child nutrition, wellness, and academic achievement. It is a way to show appreciation for the individuals who work behind the scenes to ensure that students receive nutritious meals that fuel their bodies and minds.

April 22, 2023, is Earth Day. On this day, we celebrate our planet and raise awareness about the importance of taking care of the environment. Let's reflect on our daily habits and consider making sustainable choices to protect the planet for future generations.

Palmetto Reminders:
LEAP testing starts on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 for 4th and 5th grade and on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 for 3rd grade. We will be testing a portion of each day until Thursday, May 4, 2023. It is imperative that the students in these grades arrive at school on time and remain at school the entire day. Students who are present each day of testing will receive Bronco Bucks at the end of the testing period.
Let's work together to make your child's testing experience a positive and successful one! We have been busy at school preparing the students for testing. Here is what you can do to help us:
1. Ensure your student has a good night sleep.
2. Ensure your student attends school every day for testing.
3. If your child does not eat breakfast at school, make sure they have a healthy breakfast at home.
4. Encourage them each morning to do their best.
Your child's test scores determine our school letter grade. Palmetto is currently an "A" school. We are the highest elementary school in the district. Help us by encouraging your student so we can keep that rating.
Thank you for all you do to help. Here's to Happy Testing ahead!
