Palmetto Elementary is the highest performing elementary school in St Landry Parish... Hats of to the students, parents, teachers, and staff. But.... we are not stoping at this achievment. Our babies need to be competivtive with other school districts. WE need to come together as a village raising children, to help keep our babies needs met. Our babies need technology, reading comprehinsive books, and learning materials. We have joined in SOLA giving day to be able to provide for our kids. SOLA giving is a donation site the public can donate directly to the school. Giving is easy. Just click the link below to donate. But there is more exciting news! We have a private donor who will MATCH the total donation!!! There is a catch, we have to raise at least $3,000 to have the private donor match the total donation. That $3,000 total is reachabe if each family donates only $15. That would give our students minimum total of $6000 of technology and supplies. Thank you for your help. Registration for 2022-2023 Kindergarten All children who turn 5 on or before September 30, 2022 are required to register for Kindergarten. Registration packets may be picked up in the front office. Documents needed for student registration include: birth certificate, parent ID, immunization record, registration packet, and two current proofs of residency. *Current Pre-K students DO NOT have to register for kindergarten.

Registration for 2022-2023 Pre-Kindergarten: Any child who is turning 4 on or before September 30, 2022 may apply for pre-K using the online link below. Packets may also be picked up in the front office. All students who have applied will be tested at the end of May. Letters of acceptance are mailed out in July. Please join us for MACA's 16th annual dance revue, Elemental Journey! It will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 6:00 PM in the MACA Gymnasium. Admission is $5.00 for adults and $1.00 for children.

Palmetto Elementary Reminders: The Coke Order Forms and Money are Due TODAY! Stay tuned to FaceBook for the TOP 5 highest sellers! Classes BEGIN at 7:45 and END at 2:55. We have an excessive amount of students that are arriving late and leaving early. 5 tardies = 1 absent day. 5 checkout days = 1 absent day. School Board Policy states that with 11 unexcused absent days, the student may be retained. Parents PLEASE have students attend school, arrive on time, and remain at school ALL day. LEAP (State Testing) is upon us. Tips to help your child score their best on the LEAP test: 1. Set an early bedtime 2. Eat a healthy breakfast 3. Arrive to school on time LEAP testing dates: 3rd grade April 27- May 3rd. 4th and 5th grade April 26- May 6.

A Message from SLPSB: Due to the anticipated severe weather conditions, St. Landry Parish schools, head starts, and administrative offices will be closed Wednesday, March 30, 2022. This closure will include any after school activities. Regular school hours are expected to resume on Thursday, March 31st. The decision to have a total system closure was based on advice from the Office of Emergency Preparedness and for safety concerns expressed by the SLPSB Transportation Manager. The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority. Stay safe!

The St. Landry Parish School Board will host CAMP ACCELERATE for all students in grades K - 8! CAMP ACCELERATE will provide students an opportunity to continue their academic learning in English Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science while also engaging them in enrichment activities. The enrichment opportunities will enable students to take virtual field trips, learn more about science and technology, engage in social living projects, play sports, and develop an appreciation for art, theater, music, and more. Students will attend CAMP ACCELERATE from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday beginning June 6th and continuing through June 30th. New this Year ! We are exploring the possibility of offering field trips to students on select Fridays. Students will be offered transportation to and from the program, and lunch will be provided. Parents of students in grades K to 8 who are interested in registering their children for the program should complete the registration form below. Please complete one form per child. Our buses will be leaving campus a little earlier today due to the fact that NC did not have school. Please expect your children home a little earlier than usual.

What's going on? Coke fundraiser is in full swing! Keep taking those orders! All orders and fees are due by March 31, 2022. The top five sellers will each receive lunch at Stelly's with Mrs. Rabalais, a free jean day pass, and a token for the book vending machine! It's time to sign up those babies for pre-K!
