Due to severe weather forecasted for our area on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, all St. Landry Parish schools and administrative offices will be closed. This closure includes all after-school activities and sports practices. We anticipate resuming regular school hours on Thursday, April 11th. This decision was made after close consultation with the National Weather Service and the Office of Emergency Preparedness to ensure the safety of our students and staff, which remains our top priority. OHS Rally Team Show Out at State On Saturday, March 23, 10 students from OHS Literary Rally team traveled to LSU to compete in the State Literary Rally. Students competed against up to 80 other schools from across the state in our division. Congratulations to the competitors placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd at state. Here are the results: 3rd Place: Journalism I, J'Nae Hill 2nd Place: Spanish I, David Hernandez 3rd Place: Spanish II, Paloma Quiroz In the open performances, Sean Polk with a score of 97 earned a superior rating in Interpretive Reading! We would like to thank the students for volunteering their time for this competition. While not placing in the top five, the following students went to battle against students from across the state in their various subjects and we would like to recognize their efforts: Victoria Mcauly competed in Introduction to Business Computer Applications, Madisyn Semien competed in Family & Consumer Science, Ryan Ren competed in Health, Nicholas Ditson competed in Advanced Math-Functions and Statistics, Takayla Coleman competed in Environmental Science, and Katelyn Walker competed in World History. Congratulations to the 2024 Rally Team!

The Lafayette Public Library is pleased to announce the winners of the 2024 Writes of Spring Writing Contest. We congratulate all the winners and recognize the efforts of all students who contributed their entries. We also thank the teachers for providing the instruction necessary for the students' success and for encouraging and inspiring them in their scholarly pursuits. As always, the first-place winners will be allowed to read their entry if they so choose, if you want to mention it to Ryon, Keegan and Keana. Hope to see all of you there! Winners will be awarded a certificate and an anthology of the winning works at the awards ceremony.
