The Lafayette Public Library is pleased to announce the winners of the 2024 Writes of Spring Writing Contest. We congratulate all the winners and recognize the efforts of all students who contributed their entries. We also thank the teachers for providing the instruction necessary for the students' success and for encouraging and inspiring them in their scholarly pursuits. The winners from Opelousas High School are as follows: Poetry 1st   Ryon Lafleur, "Sinfonia del Alma" 2nd   Gabrielle Francis, "Mariposas" 3rd   Takayla Coleman, "Latidos del Corazón" Personal Narrative 1st Keegan Moten “Un viaje inolvidable” Fiction 1st Keiana Batiste “El secreto del relojero”. Students will be honored for their achievements and are invited along with family and friends at an awards ceremony on the following date and times: • 7th-12th grade winners: Saturday, May 11 th at 1:00 PM at Main Library, here at the Main branch of the library (301 West Congress St. 70501). As always, the first-place winners will be allowed to read their entry if they so choose, if you want to mention it to Ryon, Keegan and Keana. Hope to see all of you there! Winners will be awarded a certificate and an anthology of the winning works at the awards ceremony.
