LANDRY PARISH PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO DISMISS EARLY TODAY May 18, 2021 OPELOUSAS, LA -- Due to forecasted precipitation causing possible hazardous road conditions and widespread flooding parish-wide, all schools and head start centers will dismiss early today, May 18, 2021. The overall safety of our students and employees necessitates the early dismissal of schools. Dismissal times are as follows: SLATS/Alternative - 1:30 PM; MACA/BioMed - 1:40 PM; High School/Junior High - 2:00 PM; Head Start - 2:00 PM; North Central/Palmetto - 2:00 PM; Elementary/Middle Schools - 2:20 PM - 2:40 PM (This is dependent on bus arrival from first routes.); *Car riders should contact the school for pick-up times. We will continue to consult with school administrators, the National Weather Service, and the Office of Emergency Preparedness in the decision-making progress regarding the closing of schools. The St. Landry Parish School Board will host CAMP ACCELERATE for all students in grades K - 8! CAMP ACCELERATE will provide students an opportunity to continue their academic learning in English Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science while also engaging them in enrichment activities. The enrichment opportunities will enable students to take virtual field trips, learn more about science and technology, engage in social living projects, play sports, and develop an appreciation for art, theater, music, and more. Students will attend CAMP ACCELERATE from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday beginning June 7th and continuing through July 1st.
