Today is School Nurse Day, a day dedicated to honoring and recognizing the contributions of school nurses in providing quality healthcare to students in schools. School nurses are crucial in promoting the health and well-being of students, staff, and their families. They provide various services, including health screenings, first aid, medication administration, and health education. They also serve as a liaison between the school, families, and healthcare providers to ensure students receive the appropriate care they need to thrive academically and physically. School Lunch Hero Day is an annual celebration in the United States that honors the hardworking school nutrition professionals who serve healthy meals to students every day. It is typically celebrated on the first Friday in May, which falls on May 5th, 2023. The day was created by the School Nutrition Association (SNA) to recognize the important role that school nutrition professionals play in promoting child nutrition, wellness, and academic achievement. It is a way to show appreciation for the individuals who work behind the scenes to ensure that students receive nutritious meals that fuel their bodies and minds.
