Beau Chene High School community! Important update about our graduation ceremony. Due to the ongoing power outage at our school caused by the recent weather, we have made the decision to move the ceremony to Our Savior's Church in Opelousas. The potential start time for the graduation is contingent on previously scheduled ceremonies. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but the safety and well-being of our students and their families is our top priority. We understand that this is a special moment for our graduates, and we want to ensure that they have a memorable celebration. Please spread the word and stay tuned for any further updates. Thank you for your understanding and support during this time.

April 22-26, 2024 is Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week (APAW), a dedicated week to recognize, appreciate and advocate for those who work with young people during out-of-school hours. Research shows that skilled and knowledgeable program staff are the backbone of program quality and are key to desired positive youth outcomes. Why is it important to recognize Afterschool Professionals? An estimated 7.8 million children participate in afterschool programs each year; for every child in an afterschool program, two more are waiting to get in. Every young person deserves quality afterschool experiences that positively impact their development. It takes skilled professionals to create these experiences. Because of the important role afterschool professionals play in kids’ lives, they deserve recognition and support!

St. Landry Parish Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, April 11, 2024, due to the extensive damage caused by the recent storms, impacting many of our families. All 12-month employees are asked to report to their respective school/site when they are able to do so safely. We understand this is a difficult time for our community, and we appreciate your patience and flexibility. The closure will allow time for families to address any storm impacts while allowing employees to ensure schools are prepared to reopen once conditions improve. Additional updates will be provided through our normal communication channels as more information becomes available. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate these challenging circumstances together.
