The St. Landry Parish School Board is pleased to announce Learning Beyond The Bell--Academic and Enrichment Program - a yearlong after school learning program designed to enrich the academic and extracurricular life of our kindergarten - 12th grade students.
The goal is to improve critical foundational skills in all core content areas. In addition, we will offer enrichment opportunities that will enable students to take virtual field trips, learn more about science and technology, engage in social living projects, play sports, and develop an appreciation for art, theater, music, and more.

Dates: October 2021 - May 2022 (start dates forthcoming)
Days: Monday - Thursday
Hours: immediately after school (3:10 p.m. - 5:10 p.m.)

It is with great sadness that SLPSB announces the passing of Mrs. Denise Oliney-Rose, District 5 School Board Member. Mrs. Rose will always be remembered for her true passion and love for our district and for the schools and constituents she represented. She was a strong advocate for students and staff and her voice and her presence will be greatly missed.

REMINDER:
Tomorrow is our Flu vaccination clinic. Make sure to turn in your forms if you would like your child to be vaccinated.

Outerwear dress code reminders:
This dress code pertains to the following items: (sweatshirts, sweaters, and jackets)
*Solid color (navy, royal, black, brown, gray, white)
*No markings or writings
I am aware that some students are waiting on spirit wear that was purchased from the school. We are expecting these to arrive any day now. It is approved that your child wear a nonapproved school jacket until these arrive.

Students received forms for Flu vaccinations this week. If you would like your child to receive this vaccination, please fill out this form and send back to school. Vaccinations will be given on Friday morning.

Palmetto Elementary would like to wholeheartedly thank the Taylor Family Foundation for the student award fund grant! This grant will be used to fund our PBIS store! Its takes a community to create a successful learning environment for our students. Thank you for being a part of our community!

The water leak has been fixed and we will resume normal operations tomorrow.

Parents: if you would like to purchase insurance when you pick up technology, the cost is $20.

Palmetto Elementary Update:
Due to a break in a water line, Palmetto Elementary will not have face to face learning tomorrow. Your child(s) teachers will be in contact to let you know how to proceed. We will be utilizing some live lessons and some Google classroom assignments. If you are in need of technology, please report to school beginning at 7:00 tomorrow morning for pick up. Please call the school if you need further instructions.

Parents:
Due to a break in a water line in Palmetto, school will be cancelled today. If your child has already been picked up by a bus, they will returned home shortly.

MESSAGE FROM SLPSB:
All schools and facilities will be open Wednesday, September 15, 2021. The decision to reopen schools is based on information gathered from the National Weather Service and the Office of Emergency Preparedness.
