It brings us GREAT pride and excitement to announce that our 6th grade team placed FIRST today in their competition at the Black History Quiz Bowl at Southern University!!! We are beyond thrilled and ecstatic at the achievement of our students! Beaming BRONCO joy and spirit so much we can't contain it!!!

Congratulations to our A-team 5th Graders who won FIRST place at the Annual Black History Quiz bowl at Southern University today!!! To say we are proud as a school is an understatement, we are ELATED with yall's accomplishment! This proves that dedication, studying and hard-work can yield excellent results!

Palmetto Elementary reminder: Tomorrow is jean day for students! Jeans $1, shirts $1, and crocs, jezzys or boots $1. Students may also wear school approved sweatpants at no extra cost due to the cold temperatures. Thank you!

A MESSAGE FROM SLPSB: Due to possible unsafe weather conditions from the forecasted arctic blast, all St. Landry Parish School District schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, and Wednesday, January 17, 2024. With icy roads and freezing temperatures expected throughout the days ahead, we have made the decision to cancel classes, sporting activities, and practices to ensure the safety of our students, families, and staff. Stay warm and safe at home. For continued updates on closures, follow our social media and check local news outlets. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this wintery weather event. Palmetto Elementary would like to congratulate our District 5 School Board member, Bianca Vedell, as the newly elected Vice President of the St. Landry Parish School Board! We are thrilled to have you as part of our team!

Palmetto Elementary car rider parents: the sign to park to begin the car rider dismissal line has been moved. It is now located right before the awning area, please do not pull up and park to wait for your children ahead of the sign due to the handicapped bus needing the walk way. Thanks!

A MESSAGE FROM SLPSB: Meeting Notice: Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) Meeting ~Date: Thursday, January 11, 2024 ~Time: 4:14 P.M. ~Location: St. Landry Parish Pupil Appraisal Center We cordially invite all community members to attend the upcoming SEAC Meeting. This meeting aims to provide a platform for valuable discussions and ensure the enhancement of special education services within our district. If you suspect your child has talented music, theater, and/or visual art characteristics, contact your school for a referral to the School Building Level Committee. Talented referrals and evaluations are only conducted once a year in the Spring.
