T. Lavergne

Mrs. Teresa Lavergne proudly joins the leadership team at Port Barre Middle/High School as Assistant Principal, bringing with her a heart for service, a deep commitment to student success, and over two decades of experience in education.

A native of Texas, Mrs. Lavergne is a graduate of Alice High School. She moved to Louisiana to attend the University of Southwestern Louisiana—now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette—where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Music Education. Her passion for educational leadership led her to pursue a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from LSU-Shreveport.

Mrs. Lavergne spent nearly 20 years teaching in Lafayette Parish before transitioning into administration in Acadia Parish, where she served as Assistant Principal at Crowley High School. Her leadership style is rooted in servant leadership, with a mission to empower students and educators to grow with confidence, compassion, and purpose.

Beyond academics, Mrs. Lavergne has been a dedicated powerlifting coach and official since 2013. She currently serves on the Executive Committee for the Louisiana High School Powerlifting Association (LHSPLA), continuing a passion that began in her own high school days during the 1990s.

Family is at the center of her life. She is married to her best friend, Mr. Kirk Lavergne, and together they are the proud parents of two remarkable children: Thomas, a Respiratory Therapist at Ochsner Lafayette General Hospital, and Savannah, a Wildlife and Fisheries Agent in St. Mary Parish.

Mrs. Lavergne is honored to be part of the Port Barre and St. Landry Parish school community. She is eager to collaborate with students, staff, and families to make this school year a successful and inspiring journey.
