Principal's Message
Welcome to Park Vista Elementary!
Mr. Joubert has NOT retired! He has decided to switch roles with me and become MY ASSISTANT principal, after 35+ years as Park Vista Elementary’s legendary principal.
Let me introduce myself to you in case you don’t already know me. My name is Rachel Melancon. I am a Christian first and foremost. I have been an educator for 30 years now! Throughout my career, I have served as a reading interventionist, special education teacher, regular education teacher, and assistant principal. I have been happily married for 28 years, a mother of four adult daughters, and grandmother of two grandsons and one granddaughter! Needless to say, they are my entire world!
I love our children and think of our students as my own grandchildren. My goal is to ensure they are happy, safe, loved, and educated to the best of our ability. I expect my staff to treat our students with respect and love while ensuring they are receiving the best education possible.
We are proud of our school! Even though we have 550+ students, we have a small school feel and our staff is like family. We encourage you to get involved in the various activities we offer throughout the school year.
Thank you for trusting us with your most precious children. We are here for you and your children. If there is anything we can do to assist you, please feel free to contact us at (337) 942- 7456. You can email me directly at rmelancon@slpsb.org.
